The San Francisco Bay
Area is home to El Jefe, and El Jefe are at home with hip-hop,
jazz,
dub,
grunge, reggae, R&B and mariachi infused music. The
six-piece group's first full length album is called “El
Jefe’s Amorphous Phormula” .The theme apparent
in the initial reviews is that El Jefe are breaking new ground
in
the California underground Hip Hop scene. In fact, the mission
of the band has been to bring freshness to the state of hip-hop:
they are succeeding!
Having wrapped up a successful 2004 summer gig with the Vans
Warped Tour, El Jefe is finishing up their debut video and playing
their asses off at venues up and down the US west coast. |

"El Jefe give us a taste
of what the Bizkits might possibly sound like if they ever grow
up.
El Jefe have opened for the likes of KRS-One and De La Soul and
should be carving out their own little niche – something
dark yet welcoming. They produce hip-hop tracks that sound like
camp fire songs from the industrial outskirts of a city – songs
about dusk, friendship, modern life and MCing. And maybe their
natural habitat is the outer reaches of the charts. They’re
making some good music."
