"Oh what a power kick! The Virtues released an
album on American label Zip Records in 2003 and has frequently
been
playing live shows ever since.
60’s melodies and 90’s driven music come together
and materialize into something which clearly has its origin
in their love of guitar based pop music.
I have not heard their full length album but this five-track
EP sure leaves you wanting more. Nice pop tunes which breathe
Big Star, The Posies, The Kinks, The Zombies, Dinosaur Jr.
and other favorites."

The Virtues are the prototypical “great
pop band from Stockholm”, Sweden (although most of the
members hail from further up north). After moving south, their
frostbitten toes and fingers finally thawed, the Virtues delivered
an incredible album “Ruminate”. Out on Zip
in 2003, it became an instant favorite in the U.S., Spain and
Sweden.
Lead vocalist/guitar Per Bergkvist writes pop songs that go straight
to the soul. Critics have been writing of goose bumps and waves
of aural pleasures rarely heard in a bands’ debut album.
Their secret recipe consists of a cup of 60’s contagious
rock, a dash of that Nordic melancholy and a spoonful of sugar. |

" ... this is beautiful,
the pure and genuine Swedish way with the American singer/songwriter
tradition; emotional power pop and country melancholia."
