EDWARD ROGERS |
Edward Rogers new album "Sparkle Lane" continues to dazzle the press and
served as the impetus for a sold out gathering of fans at the recent concert
(June 21) in New York at the Bowery Electric. With a full band and a
repertoire from his two most recent albums, Ed embellished each song with
delightful arrangements and a presence harking back to the glory days of
60's pop music.
Some of the recent reviews of Sparkle Lane are more than worthy of notice:
"Sparkle Lane is a delightful disk from beginning to end. It brims over with
both a penchant for Anglophilia and a sense of lost innocence."
Beyond Race Magazine (2010)
"Sparkle Lane is quite frankly, one of the best albums I have heard in a
long time. I get more excited with each track - this is the rare kind of
experience that I had when I first heard such classic albums as The Beach
Boys "Pet Sounds" and the Zombies "Odessey and Oracle."

| A BALLADEER |
From Amsterdam, Netherlands come the renown trio "a balladeer".
With two
successful albums out in Holland on EMI, their debut US recording "Where Are You, Bambi Woods?" has been described as a cross between Scissor Sisters and
Coldplay.
Named after the disappeared star of the legendary "Debbie Does Dallas", the
album's unique inspiration came from the trio's fascinating spot on
observations of American culture. Through the keen eyes of songwriter
Marinus de Goederen, the melodic songs have a bite that leaves a deep mark.
The review are starting to come in, and they are brilliant!
"Pop music is
being redefined by the edgy, socially-aware, supremely tuneful themed
melodies of "a balladeer"." Beige Magazine, March 2010
Watch for US dates in June!

| STEVE ALLEN |
Allen reappears as
if by pop magic with a fine solo album called thinline. No offense to Sir
Paul, but he could learn a trick of two from our man Steve (Allen)." Music
Web Express 3000 (March 2010).
"I loved your recent album." -Al Kooper, March 2010
The 2010 release by Steve Allen hearkens back to the day when a new album became the soundtrack to your life. It may be hyperbole to label "thinline" a classic, but how else to describe the 10 new songs? "Listening to Steve Allen's new CD, thinline, was like taking a big breath of fresh air. I enjoyed every second of the album . . . The songwriting on this CD is on par with Lennon & McCartney/Tillbrook & Difford" (Rock Talk Records - Feb. 2010).
It is 2010, but thinline sounds a bit like 20/20. With the incredible
powerpop kings on a hiatus, this new one by Steve Allen is the closest we'll
get to 20/20 for awhile. Simply put, "this is a must have CD for anyone who
loves popular music" (Chas Ferry) |

EDWARD ROGERS |
Masterful, muted melodies from Anglopop renaissance man
We're delighted to report glowing responses to the new album (his second on
Zip Records) by Edward Rogers. Released late February, "Sparkle Lane" by
New York based Rogers has been lauded for its "masterful and muted
melodies".
"Playing on indie pop's periphery, formerly of The Green Rooftops and the Bedsit Poets, Birmingham's Edward Rogers may not be a household name. But 2008's You Haven't Been Where I Have Been, a super-melodic feast of jangly guitars, was a dazzler. Sparkle Lane, with its autumnal strings and misty melancholy, is quieter but packs quite a psychological wallop. Preoccupied with the past, the misbegotten expectations of youth, and the corrosiveness of nostalgia, Sparkle Lane paints bittersweet miniatures - say, the gorgeous floater "Passing The Sunshine" - approaching the hallowed territory of the Kink's' Village Green."
