THE STERLING EXPERIENCE about the band

LA's soul/funk/R&B/rock virtuoso Sterling (aka The Sterling Experience) will be launching a new album in the fall of 2008. Why such an early announcement? Two reasons:
1) Those in southern California are on notice that he'll be exposing himself live over the summer and
2) Good things come to everyone who waits.

ROB SMITH about the band

Lost your Innocents? Fret no more. The new one by Rob Smith (vocalist/guitarist for The Innocents) is out April 8! Full of heavenly melodies and harmonies, “Trick of the Light” glows with super smart lyrics and updates any collection of great summer guitar pop albums. Sydney native Rob Smith will charm your socks off. The best thing to come out of Australia since Vegimite.

SMASH PALACE about the band

From Maine to Maui (21 spins in one week in mid March!), Smash Palace have the heaviest rotation we’ve ever experienced at Zip Records. AAA radio has shown wonderful support for both “She” and “Didn’t Anyone Tell You?”, including Top 10 chart action on numerous US stations. Heck, we’re even hearing it here in San Francisco! For a full listing of radio stations playing “Didn’t Anyone Tell You” check out the news on Smash Palace official site.

EDWARD ROGERS about the band

Edward Rogers official CD release concert is at Joe’s Pub in New York on April 13th! Ed’s new album “You Haven’t Been Where I’ve Been” will come alive before your very eyes. Don’t say you haven’t been warned. Joined by a full band, Ed Rogers’ take on the pop idiom is outlined in this chamber pop extravaganza.

THE CHEVELLES about the band

Down at SXSW, the Chevelles rocked the house (and the tent and the club). As part of the last leg on their world tour, Australia’s ambassadors of pop rock fury performed a bunch of their hits, including “C’Mon Everybody”, “Show Me Your Love” and “Medaline”. On drums was Mark DiRenzo, a member of Zip’s very own band Gigantic. Add on the rousing introduction by Kim Fowley (also on Zip Records!), it was label heaven.

The Chevelles new one, “Accellerator”, is out soon on Wicked Cool Records.

AUTONS about the band

The new single “Election Singer” by UK’s Autons will rear its gorgeous head on May 13. Not only a prelude of things to come, this release stands on its own as the archetype and mother lode of the electro pop universe. Listen to a soundtrack of the album now.

TOPEDOES about the band

Torpedoes "The Gong Show": New Band, New Album! The reviews are already raging: "You’ve lost your oesophagus once ‘My Lunch With Bullet Brain’ starts, they’re at your throat immediately. Bubbling and bristling, it’s more tornado than torpedo..."

THE CHEVELLES about the band

The west Aussie Power Pop Assault World Tour 2008 begins in Stockholm on February 21 and wraps in San Diego on March 22. They'll be in the UK, at SXSW, all over Spain, New York, California and...Cleveland! Talk about global warming!

SMASH PALACE about the band

BIRGIT about the band

Just like the major labels, we're about to see the third single plucked from Birgit's "True Stories I Made Up" album. The upbeat, infectious "Hardrocking Diva" single drops in March with radio ads scheduled the same month. A Far East tour is happening in summer 2008!

TORPEDOES about the band

The explosive band from Portsmouth, UK, play bone splintering rock & roll that smells of leather and vinegar. The song "Twisted Love Song" is a staple with DJ D(e)adbeat in Detroit and the band has been invited to the Motor City for a CD release show. Talk is cheap and flights are expensive but jeez...would that be fun!

THE CHEVELLES about the band

Check out The Chevelles World Tour 2008 full itinerary >

It looks official! The next Chevelles album is going to be released under the Wicked Cool label."Accelerator" is going to blow the roof off and we might not have the "manpower" to assist with its global domination. However, The Chevelles will forever remain in our family and we are helping to bring them to San Francisco in March as part of their world tour. Speaking of which, the Chevelles are appearing in Stockholm on February 21 with Zip's own The Virtues!
