Mark DeCerbo & Four Eyes have been nominated in the Best Pop Album category for the San Diego Music Awards 2006 for their Zip Records release " Sweet On The Vine" as they were also nominated for Best Pop Band in 2004. They have a new release due out in October 2006 on the Japanese label, Wizzard In Vinyl. This one is titled "Four Eyes (featuring Mark DeCerbo) The Best Of 1979-1990" and is a retrospective from the Four Eyes music archives including never before released studio and live performances of over 20 classic Four Eyes songs. It will also feature a vintage video of the band performing "I'll Be Your Umbrella" live on television, a slide show of vintage Four Eyes memorabilia and a current video of the band in the studio thanking you for purchasing the album. All great fun. A Four Eyes CD reunion/release party is being planned by this years end. Check the band's new press reviews!

TopNews - Zip Records and Namawu Records Team up for sampler CD! San Francisco based Namawu Records and their in house production group "Beatmites" join forces with Zip Records for world wide exploitation of some of the best hip hop, R&B, soul and rock & roll of the whole Bay Area and South London! Although a departure from the typical offerings by this label, we're not "selling out" (although we'd sure like to!). The Beatmites represent everything that is good about contemporary urban music and we want 'em bad for the world outside the US. The full length CD is out in November!

On the radio again! Northern New Jersey station WNTI has been playing the hell out of the Smash Palace CD. Big plays from a BIG station.

The Chevelles appear with Radio Birdman in Perth on August 16! You read it right. A monumental opportunity to see two legends in one night. Those lucky to attend might catch a new song or two from the early new one by the Chevelles on Zip Records!

Picked by BBC Liverpool as one of the top 10 live acts at the 2006 Liverpool I.P.O Festival! Smash Palace just returned from a successful mini tour of England and their album is now available at retailers throughout the UK (and the US in August!)

It's another new "Day" with Pablo on guitar and some exciting newly announced shows for mid and late July (see Tour calendar). As luck would have it, Pablo will miss the last two gigs but "Thirst" lead guy Chris Perin will fulfill the role quite admirably.

A whole lot of love was bestowed on The Virtues at the 15 May Polar Music Prize in Stockholm! Although they didn't receive the prize this year (not "legends" yet), they did play at the award show. Accepting this year's prize was Led Zeppelin.

After a smashing success at Liverpool's I.P.O in May (and a recording session at Abbey Road), The Innocents flew to Japan and performed at three venues to raving fans. While the band was in Hamburg they met and had coffee with Cynthia Lennon. Beat that! The Innocents new album "Pop Factory" sees an official US launch on August 8.

Mary Lee’s Corvette has struck again. Fronted and centered by Mary Lee Kortes, “love loss & lunacy” has pop singer/songwriter written all over it. The album saw a simultaneous US and UK release in mid May of 2006 (on Zip Records in the UK and Western Force in the US). Produced and engineered by Stephen Butler of Smash Palace fame (‘best of ‘99 - ‘06” on Zip Records), the album contains twelve tracks of “highly enjoyable modern pop rock songs”. Check out the tour calendar because she’s likely to be close to your neighborhood soon.

Loopy's new album is recorded and it is "Waiting for Naomi". That's the title. Although Zip Records may be unaffiliated with this new one, we heartedly endorse all things "Loopy" and salivate at the thought of more great songs from this Danish band. Another year on Sirius Satellite Radio! Kim Fowley is signed to host his notorious show through January 2007. Also, a track co-written and produced by Kim appears on the soundtrack of robin Williams new feature film "RV".

The Virtues are back in Stockholm after a successful series of shows in the New York City area in March. Next up is a UK tour in May which will take them, among other places, to the Cavern Club in Liverpool and the Bar Academy in London!

The globetrotting Virtues are doing dates in Latvia during February and then on March 13 the band arrives in the big Apple (New York). See the tour calendar for their New York dates and check out Stockholm’s ambassadors of pop.

Big in Japan and too big for their native North Carolina, Stratocruiser takes off for an eastern United States swing in April. Catch them live in New York and be some of the first in the world to hear songs from their upcoming album. “Perfectionist popcraft” says Jack Rabid in the latest issue of The Big Takeover.
