They weren't contenders....they were champs! Born out of the musically fertile area of Portsmouth, UK in the late 1990's, "thirst" were on the cover of Rock Sound Magazine (French edition), played regularly with the likes of Manic Street Preachers (French Edition), Llama Farmers and Bush and toured the U.S. in the fall of 2000. It was October, the New York Mets and the New York Yankees were playing game 7 of the World Series, and thirst tore the roof off of legendary N.Y. club Coney Island High. They opened for the alt rock "Spain" and Lisa Loeb opened for them in San Francisco! Perhaps most bizarre of all was the fact that the four boys in thirst were mostly 17 years old at the time - they needed to be escorted in and out of the various New York and California venues and remained sober throughout the 12 day trek. The one and only full lenght album by "thirst", "From Mouth to Skin" received rave reviews in Kerrang Magazine, Melody Maker and they were lauded by non other then Steve Lamacq (BBC) as one his newcomer favorites. "From Mouth to Skin" was the second release by then start up Zip Records. It remains in the top 3 of all time best sellers. The album is full of high charged rock 'n roll with an alternative edge and sounds as good today as ever.
